PINT SIZE POLKAS
PERFORMANCES
I write this email today from my first ever stay at an AirBnB. I’ve
probably had 500 nights in hotel rooms since I started doing Pint Size
Polkas, but lodging here in Colorado Springs is kind of pricey, and
not always very good (especially if you look for deals like I do). And
I have to say, the AirBnB experience so far has been very good, and
saved me about $100 for my four-night stay here in town. Woohoo!
This is my second week
here in CO, and I have to say this is one of the nicest places to
visit. Every good thing you’ve heard about CO is true! Their libraries
are awesome, and the scenery cannot be beat. The traffic around Denver
can be a little much, but get outside of that area and particularly
into the central part of the State, and there are some amazing sights
to be seen! Just drink lots of water (I was more than two miles above
sea level at one point)!
While I’ve been out
here, I had the chance to appear on FOX21 in Colorado Springs with
Abbie Burke to discuss my shows for the Pikes Peak Library District.
It’s easily one of the craziest morning crews I’ve ever worked with
(and I mean that in a good way)! Check out my
Facebook Page
for Pint Size Polkas to watch this fun segment online.
I still have a few more
shows here in CO this week, and then head to MT for the very first
time Monday through Wednesday next week. Then I’ll be in North Dakota
for the first time ever on Thursday, followed by shows in MN and WI on
Friday. Whew! Get all the details on everything coming up in July and
August on the Events page,
including two trips to MI, a visit to our library in town, and my
first ever appearance at the Tall Tales Festival in Burlington, WI,
where I’ll be doing my “Real American Heroes” program. Hope to see you
soon!
THE MIKE SCHNEIDER
BAND PERFORMANCES
When I get home in August, I still have several Pint Size Polkas
commitments, but the focus shifts more toward festivals, beer gardens
and other community events. A few long standing events in particular
include the Hustisford Music in the Park program on Tuesday, August
13; Oak Creek Lionsfest on Friday, August 30 (and Sunday, September
1); and a rain date for the West Allis Concert in the Park on
Thursday, August 22. Hoping for nicer weather that night!
New events include a stop at Sendik’s Towne Centre for a special Talk
of the Towne Beer Garden event they’re running on Saturday, August 17;
Honeymoon Acres for Tri-City Nights in New Holstein on Friday, August
23; and a very special International event the Schwabenhof in
Menomonee Falls is hosting on Saturday, August 31. August should be a
very fun month for the Mike Schneider Band, and I hope you’ll come out
and help us celebrate!

WEST BEND GERMANFEST
I’d like to give West Bend Germanfest particular mention in this
update because it might be the one and only chance for you to come see
me provide three musical services at one event. It’s going to be a
crazy day, but it should be fun! They’ve hired me to start their
Sunday morning with a Polka Mass, which will presided by Bishop
Schuerman of the Milwaukee Archdiocese. Immediately following Mass,
I’ll be doing my Pint Size Polkas show (bring your kids and/or
grandkids, and tell everyone you know to do the same)! Then we’ll wrap
up our portion of the day there with a traditional polka performance
from 1-2 PM, featuring all your usual polka and German favorites.
I’ve heard from
traditional polka fans for years, maybe even decades, “If we could
only get the kids involved in polka music.” This is your chance to do
just that at an event that’s familiar to the polka community! Come for
Mass at 10 AM, bring the kids for my Pint Size Polkas music, magic and
comedy family show at 11 AM, and then enjoy more polka fun with my
band from 1-2 PM. Free admission and free parking make West Bend
Germanfest an event you don’t want to miss!
As always, be
sure to join our growing list of fans on Facebook
here, or the Mike Schneider Band
here. Once you’re there, click the
Like button at the top of the page.
That's all for this
month. Thanks again and talk to you soon!
